Illustration for the profit margin and markup calculator

Calculate gross profit, profit margin and markup from a unit cost and selling price.

Formula

Gross profit = selling price − cost. Margin = gross profit ÷ selling price × 100. Markup = gross profit ÷ cost × 100.

Worked example

A 60 selling price with a 40 cost gives 20 gross profit, a 33.33% margin and a 50% markup. Other expenses are not included.
